Sloane is an experienced government relations, advocacy and communications professional with a proven track record of success. Sloane not only develops the basics of a layered and targeted communications plan and issue advocacy campaign, but also thinks creatively and beyond traditional industry tactics, resulting in a tailored path to success for the firm’s clients.
Prior to joining KO, Sloane worked at Planned Parenthood as the South Carolina Director of Public Affairs, where she served as their spokesperson and principal lobbyist to the South Carolina statehouse. During her tenure, she successfully defeated an average of 8-12 bills each year that threatened women’s health and spearheaded the development of Planned Parenthood’s first-ever targeted, grassroots issue-advocacy field program in South Carolina, leveraging their brand and doubling their supporter base.
In 2012, Sloane took a brief leave of absence from Planned Parenthood to serve as the North Carolina Women’s Vote Director for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, where she was instrumental in designing the state’s “Women for Obama” special-constituency outreach program. After her time on the campaign, she returned to Planned Parenthood in North Carolina to help develop and implement their statewide 501(c)(4) electoral plan, including their field plan for the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.
Sloane graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with bachelor’s degrees in political science and law and society.
As a member of Downtown Baltimore Family Alliance’s Board of Directors, Sloane advises the organization on their legislative and communications strategy around their education, transit and smart growth advocacy efforts.
